The Forgotten Village
My concentration is Treasure Hill in Taipei, Taiwan. The model with plain clothes posing in the images emphasizes the compositions of the different backgrounds through different angles. The structures of the buildings create geometric patterns with values from light to dark, which the light contrast the different shapes. The cold colors of the images give the ruined buildings a feeling of loneliness while it seems there was only the model in Treasure Hill. Although the place looks old and poor, however, I would like to show there is still possible to find the beauty of the structures.
Treasure Hill is a desolate place, which I chose to use low saturation in my entire works. I noticed the lines and angles of the structures forming geometric patterns. For instance, in image 5, you can see the lines of the stairs and walls draw attention by forcing sight to different directions. Later, in image 9, I made the model posing in the bottom right corner, which emphasizes the lines and the pattern go from bottom to the top. With great patterns of the structure and the fashionable paintings on the wall, I chose to make the images (image 1, 6,11) into black and white that the light contrasts the shapes, lines, and textures clearly. At the same time, black and white also keep the images simple and emphasize the compositions in the images. On the other hand, there are plants growing on the building, hence I decided to include them in the images, which contrasts the tone of loneliness and desolation. In addition, in image 4, 8, and 10, you can still see geometries formed by the buildings while the leaves and grass growing around them. Last, the mild colors of the clothes on the model fit into the tone.
